Riana Stander qualified as a General Registered Nurse and Midwife in 1987 from the VKOVS Nursing College of the Orange Free State. She began working at Wynberg II Military Hospital as a registered nurse and later as a Midwife and midwifery training facilitator in the obstetrics unit. In 1999, she bought her own private well baby practice, specializing in monitoring the total well-being of children and the provision of immunizations for childhood diseases. The practice also offered pre-natal classes to expecting and prospective parents. In 2013, she sold her practice as her interests turned to the clinical research industry. She began working at TREAD research, Cape Town, as a site study coordinator. In December 2015, she was promoted to Site Manager at TREAD research and later moved to the Regulatory Department as Regulatory Manager. This position saw her working closely with most aspects of study start up, sponsors and clinical research organisations, assisting the quality team with daily quality assurance checks; preparing for monitoring visits and audits. She was now also responsible for some staff training; fulfilling one of her passions that is training and mentoring.
In 2018, Riana joined TASK Applied Science as Regulatory Lead and is now an accredited GCP trainer.
